Of the 300 recorded suicide cases in 2018, 262 were men suicides and 38 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 29.98 per 100,000 men and for women 3.75 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Latvia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 84 homicides in Latvia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.6 suicides.
