Japan has a very high suicide rate

In 1965 around 14,444 suicides occurred in Japan, 263 less than in 1964. In 1965, on average 40 Japanese committed suicide every day.

Japan reported 14.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 11.36 suicides per 100,000 people.

Japan, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 14,444 recorded suicide cases in 1965, 8,330 were men suicides and 6,114 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.1 per 100,000 men and for women 12.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
