Number of suicides increases in Jordan

In 2015 around 244 suicides occurred in Jordan, 4 more than in 2014.

Jordan reported 2.63 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Jordan has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 244 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 170 were men suicides and 74 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.43 per 100,000 men and for women 1.64 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Jordan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 151 homicides in Jordan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.6 suicides.
