In 2017 Vanuatu public debt was 406 million euros 459 million dollars, has increased 8099 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 52.09% of Vanuatu GDP, a 6.93 percentage point rise from 2016, when it was 45.16% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Vanuatu debt. It has risen since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 73 million euros 101 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 19.11%.
According to the last data point published, Vanuatu per capita debt in 2017 was 1,455 euros1,644 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 1,197 euros 1,325 dollars, afterwards rising by 258 euros319 dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 328 euros450 dollars .
The position of Vanuatu, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 98 in the list of debt to GDP and 74 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
