In 2019 Vanuatu public debt was 375 million euros420 million dollars, has decreased 327 million since 2018.
This amount means that the debt in 2019 reached 45.28% of Vanuatu GDP, a 2.85 percentage point fall from 2018, when it was 48.13% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Vanuatu debt. It has risen since 2009 in global debt terms, when it was 90 million euros 125 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 21.12%.
According to the last data point published, Vanuatu per capita debt in 2019 was 1,272 euros1,424 dollars per inhabitant. In 2018 it was 1,328 euros 1,568 dollars, afterwards dropping by 56 euros 144dollars, and if we again check 2009 we can see that then the debt per person was 383 euros535 dollars .
The position of Vanuatu, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2019 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 66 in the list of debt to GDP and 67 in debt per capita, out of the 190 we publish.
