In 2020 Panama public debt was 30,788 million euros35,087 million dollars, has increased 5,6116,903 million since 2019.
This amount means that the debt in 2020 reached 66.28% of Panama GDP, a 24.08 percentage point rise from 2019, when it was 42.2% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Panama debt. It has risen since 2010 in global debt terms, when it was 9,013 million euros 11,936 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 40.54%.
According to the last data point published, Panama per capita debt in 2020 was 7,195 euros8,200 dollars per inhabitant. In 2019 it was 5,967 euros 6,680 dollars, afterwards rising by 1,228 euros1,520 dollars, and if we again check 2010 we can see that then the debt per person was 2,461 euros3,259 dollars .
The position of Panama, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2020 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 115 in the list of debt to GDP and 135 in debt per capita, out of the 190 we publish.
