In 2018 Panama public debt was 21,741 million euros 25,687 million dollars, has increased 1,0442,314 million since 2017.
This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 39.49% of Panama GDP, a 1.96 percentage point rise from 2017, when it was 37.53% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Panama debt. It has risen since 2008 in global debt terms, when it was 7,097 million euros 10,437 million dollars although it has fallen as a percentage of GDP, when it amounted to 41.49%.
According to the last data point published, Panama per capita debt in 2018 was 5,228 euros6,176 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 5,051 euros 5,704 dollars, afterwards rising by 177 euros472 dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 2,006 euros2,950 dollars .
The position of Panama, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 62 in the list of debt to GDP and 127 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
