In 2017 Panama public debt was 20,700 million euros 23,373 million dollars, has increased 1,1801,772 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 37.8% of Panama GDP, a 0.44 percentage point rise from 2016, when it was 37.36% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Panama debt. It has risen since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 7,640 million euros 10,471 million dollars although it has fallen as a percentage of GDP, when it amounted to 47.92%.
According to the last data point published, Panama per capita debt in 2017 was 5,051 euros5,704 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 4,835 euros 5,351 dollars, afterwards rising by 216 euros353 dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 2,198 euros3,012 dollars .
The position of Panama, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 59 in the list of debt to GDP and 128 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
