This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 28.16% of New Zealand GDP, a 6.14 percentage point fall from 2015, when it was 34.3% of GDP.

The position of New Zealand, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 29 in the list of debt to GDP and 152 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
