Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1970 occurred 1,150 suicides in Switzerland. This year, 83 more people committed suicide than in 1969. In 1970, on average 3 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland had 18.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.8 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 1,150 recorded suicide cases in 1970, 830 were men suicides and 320 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 27.5 per 100,000 men and for women 10.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
