Sweden has a very high suicide rate

In 1971 around 1,648 suicides occurred in Sweden, 142 less than in 1970. In 1971, on average 5 Swedes committed suicide every day.

Sweden reported 20.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.63 suicides per 100,000 people.

Sweden has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,648 recorded suicide cases in 1971, 1,151 were men suicides and 497 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 28.5 per 100,000 men and for women 12.3 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
