Sweden has a very high suicide rate

In 1970 occurred 1,790 suicides in Sweden. This year, 40 more people committed suicide than in 1969. In 1970, on average 5 Swedes committed suicide every day.

Sweden had 22.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.8 suicides per 100,000 people.

Sweden has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,790 recorded suicide cases in 1970, 1,257 were men suicides and 533 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 31.3 per 100,000 men and for women 13.2 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
