Sweden has a very high suicide rate

In 1969 around 1,750 suicides occurred in Sweden, 48 more than in 1968. In 1969, on average 5 Swedes committed suicide every day.

Sweden reported 22 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.58 suicides per 100,000 people.

Sweden has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,750 recorded suicide cases in 1969, 1,242 were men suicides and 508 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 31.2 per 100,000 men and for women 12.7 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
