Sudan - Intentional self-harm

In 2013 occurred 3,964 suicides in Sudan. This year, 16 more people committed suicide than in 2012. In 2013, on average 11 Sudanese committed suicide every day.

Sudan had 11.01 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 3,964 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 2,853 were men suicides and 1,111 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.84 per 100,000 men and for women 6.18 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Sudan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,702 homicides in Sudan, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.3 suicides.
