In 1971 around 1,473 suicides occurred in Spain, 3 less than in 1969. In 1971, on average 4 Spaniards committed suicide every day.

Spain reported 4.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 11.63 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Spain has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,473 recorded suicide cases in 1971, 1,100 were men suicides and 373 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.6 per 100,000 men and for women 2.1 per 100,000 female.
