Suicides increase in Norway

In 2013 occurred 566 suicides in Norway. This year, 51 more people committed suicide than in 2012. In Norway, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Norway had 10.93 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 566 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 387 were men suicides and 179 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.89 per 100,000 men and for women 6.92 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Norway suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 46 homicides in Norway, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 12.3 suicides.
