Mongolia has a very high suicide rate

In 2007 around 796 suicides occurred in Mongolia, 9 less than in 2006. On average, there are 2 suicides per day.

Mongolia reported 30.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Mongolia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 796 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 684 were men suicides and 112 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 52.77 per 100,000 men and for women 8.57 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Mongolia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 295 homicides in Mongolia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.7 suicides.
