In Ireland there were 9.37 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.27 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 465 recorded suicide cases in 2020, 338 were men suicides and 127 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.74 per 100,000 men and for women 5.08 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ireland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 32 homicides in Ireland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 14.5 suicides.
