Number of suicides increases in Iceland

In 1972 around 18 suicides occurred in Iceland, 7 more than in 1971.

Iceland reported 8.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 11.98 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Iceland has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 18 recorded suicide cases in 1972, 12 were men suicides and 6 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.4 per 100,000 men and for women 5.8 per 100,000 female.
