Suicides increase in Iceland

In 1970 occurred 27 suicides in Iceland. This year, 7 more people committed suicide than in 1969.

Iceland had 13.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 11.8 suicides per 100,000 people.

Iceland, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 27 recorded suicide cases in 1970, 23 were men suicides and 4 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 22.3 per 100,000 men and for women 4 per 100,000 female.
