Number of suicides increases in Iceland

In 1969 around 20 suicides occurred in Iceland, 5 more than in 1968.

Iceland reported 9.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 11.58 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Iceland has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 20 recorded suicide cases in 1969, 14 were men suicides and 6 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.6 per 100,000 men and for women 6 per 100,000 female.
