Suicides increase in Iceland

In 1965 occurred 22 suicides in Iceland. This year, 5 more people committed suicide than in 1964.

Iceland had 11.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 11.36 suicides per 100,000 people.

Iceland, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 22 recorded suicide cases in 1965, 19 were men suicides and 3 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.6 per 100,000 men and for women 3.2 per 100,000 female.
