Guyana has a very high suicide rate

By 2013, suicides in Guyana increased by 2 people to at 211 suicides

In Guyana there were 27.68 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Guyana has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 211 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 155 were men suicides and 56 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 41.75 per 100,000 men and for women 14.86 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Guyana suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 155 homicides in Guyana, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
