By 2014, suicides in Ghana increased by 57 people to at 1,843 suicides In 2014, on average 5 Ghanaians committed suicide every day.

In Ghana there were 6.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,843 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 1,445 were men suicides and 398 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.28 per 100,000 men and for women 2.81 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ghana suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 543 homicides in Ghana, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.4 suicides.
