There are 4 suicides per day in Ghana

In 2004 around 1,375 suicides occurred in Ghana, 17 more than in 2003. In 2004, on average 4 Ghanaians committed suicide every day.

Ghana reported 6.59 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.53 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,375 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 1,102 were men suicides and 273 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.12 per 100,000 men and for women 2.48 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ghana suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 452 homicides in Ghana, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3 suicides.
