By 2004, suicides in the Czech Republic increased by 136 people to at 1,583 suicides In 2004, on average 4 Czechs committed suicide every day.

In the Czech Republic there were 15.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.53 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,583 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 1,286 were men suicides and 297 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 25.9 per 100,000 men and for women 5.7 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In the Czech Republic suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 134 homicides in the Czech Republic, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11.8 suicides.
