Costa Rica has a low suicide rate

In 1970 occurred 41 suicides in Costa Rica. This year, 12 fewer people committed suicide than in 1969.

Costa Rica had 2.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 11.8 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Costa Rica has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 41 recorded suicide cases in 1970, 36 were men suicides and 5 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4 per 100,000 men and for women 0.6 per 100,000 female.
