There are 341 suicides per day in China

In 2003 occurred 124,383 suicides in China. This year, 5,997 more people committed suicide than in 2002. In 2003, on average 341 Chinese committed suicide every day.

China had 9.63 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 124,383 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 69,025 were women and 55,357 were men. Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In China suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 24,393 homicides in China, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.1 suicides.
