By 2013, suicides in Chile increased by 103 people to at 1,738 suicides In 2013, on average 5 Chileans committed suicide every day.

In Chile there were 9.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,738 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 1,420 were men suicides and 318 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.4 per 100,000 men and for women 3.6 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Chile suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 556 homicides in Chile, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.1 suicides.
