Chile has the lowest suicide rate in the world

In 1967 occurred 187 suicides in Chile. This year, 407 fewer people committed suicide than in 1966.

Chile had 2.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 11.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 187 recorded suicide cases in 1967, 156 were men suicides and 31 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.5 per 100,000 men and for women 0.7 per 100,000 female.
