There are 6 suicides per day in Myanmar

In 2013 occurred 2,109 suicides in Myanmar. This year, 71 more people committed suicide than in 2012. In 2013, on average 6 Burmese committed suicide every day.

Myanmar had 4.19 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,109 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 1,273 were men suicides and 836 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.04 per 100,000 men and for women 3.29 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Myanmar suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,238 homicides in Myanmar, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.7 suicides.
