In Bulgaria there were 9.95 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.78 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 724 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 577 were men suicides and 147 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.29 per 100,000 men and for women 3.94 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bulgaria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 109 homicides in Bulgaria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.6 suicides.
