Suicides increase in Azerbaijan

In 2013 occurred 314 suicides in Azerbaijan. This year, 8 more people committed suicide than in 2012.

Azerbaijan had 3.32 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Azerbaijan, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 314 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 255 were men suicides and 59 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.41 per 100,000 men and for women 1.24 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Azerbaijan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 221 homicides in Azerbaijan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
