In Austria there were 14.04 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.42 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 1,261 recorded suicide cases in 2017, 994 were men suicides and 267 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 22.49 per 100,000 men and for women 5.86 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Austria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 70 homicides in Austria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 18 suicides.
