Australia has a very high suicide rate

In 1964 occurred 1,620 suicides in Australia. This year, 98 fewer people committed suicide than in 1963. In 1964, on average 4 Australians committed suicide every day.

Australia had 14.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 11.15 suicides per 100,000 people.

Australia, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 1,620 recorded suicide cases in 1964, 1,071 were men suicides and 549 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.1 per 100,000 men and for women 10 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
