Suicides decreased in Armenia

In 2007 around 135 suicides occurred in Armenia, 12 less than in 2006.

Armenia reported 4.19 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 135 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 107 were men suicides and 28 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.85 per 100,000 men and for women 1.69 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Armenia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 77 homicides in Armenia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.8 suicides.
