The national minimum wage increase in Costa Rica

In 2015, the national minimum wage in Costa Rica remained fixed at €378.6 per month, that is 4,543 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Costa Rican colones, which is the official currency in Costa Rica, we can see that, this year, it was 249,087.5 Costa Rican colones and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 15,891.3 Costa Rican colones per month from the previous year, 6.81%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2014 which was 5.1%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Costa Rica is in 38 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 112 of the list.
