Costa Rica rises the national minimum wage

In 2021, the national minimum wage in Costa Rica remained fixed at €421 per month, that is 5,052 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Costa Rican colones, which is the official currency in Costa Rica, we can see that, this year, it was 317,916 Costa Rican colones and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 41,796 Costa Rican colones per month from the previous year, 15.14%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2020 which was 0.9%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Costa Rica is in 40 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 101 of the list.
