If we look at the minimum salary in Costa Rican colones, which is the official currency in Costa Rica, we can see that, this year, it was 324,560 Costa Rican colones and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 6,644.4 Costa Rican colones per month from the previous year, 2.09%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2021 which was 3.3%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.
If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Costa Rica is in 47 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 120 of the list.
