The national minimum wage increase in Costa Rica

In 2014, the national minimum wage in Costa Rica remained fixed at €336.7 per month, that is 4,040 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Costa Rican colones, which is the official currency in Costa Rica, we can see that, this year, it was 233,196.2 Costa Rican colones and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 9,126.6 Costa Rican colones per month from the previous year, 4.07%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2013 which was 3.7%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.
