Zambia national debt goes up

In 2018 Zambia public debt was 17,931 million euros21,186 million dollars, has increased 2,7374,027 million since 2017.

This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 80.52% of Zambia GDP, a 14.2 percentage point rise from 2017, when it was 66.32% of GDP.

If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Zambia debt. It has risen since 2008 in global debt terms, when it was 2,338 million euros 3,438 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 19.19%.

According to the last data point published, Zambia per capita debt in 2018 was 1,009 euros1,192 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 881 euros 995 dollars, afterwards rising by 128 euros197 dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 178 euros262 dollars .

The position of Zambia, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 159 in the list of debt to GDP and 60 in debt per capita, out of the 191 we publish.
