In 2018 Benin public debt was 4,957 million euros 5,855 million dollars, has increased 505825 million since 2017.
This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 41.05% of Benin GDP, a 1.45 percentage point rise from 2017, when it was 39.6% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Benin debt. It has risen since 2008 in global debt terms, when it was 1,218 million euros 1,792 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 18.31%.
According to the last data point published, Benin per capita debt in 2018 was 432 euros510 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 398 euros 450 dollars, afterwards rising by 34 euros60 dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 140 euros206 dollars .
The position of Benin, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 68 in the list of debt to GDP and 32 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
