In 2017 Benin public debt was 4,467 million euros 5,046 million dollars, has increased 617784 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 54.44% of Benin GDP, a 4.76 percentage point rise from 2016, when it was 49.68% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Benin debt. It has risen since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 851 million euros 1,167 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 19.53%.
According to the last data point published, Benin per capita debt in 2017 was 400 euros452 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 355 euros 393 dollars, afterwards rising by 45 euros59 dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 101 euros138 dollars .
The position of Benin, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 105 in the list of debt to GDP and 30 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
