In 2019 Benin public debt was 5,300 million euros5,933 million dollars, has increased 34379 million since 2018.
This amount means that the debt in 2019 reached 41.23% of Benin GDP, a 0.15 percentage point rise from 2018, when it was 41.08% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Benin debt. It has risen since 2009 in global debt terms, when it was 1,309 million euros 1,826 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 18.75%.
According to the last data point published, Benin per capita debt in 2019 was 449 euros503 dollars per inhabitant. In 2018 it was 432 euros 510 dollars, afterwards rising by 17 euros7 dollars, and if we again check 2009 we can see that then the debt per person was 146 euros204 dollars .
The position of Benin, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2019 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 61 in the list of debt to GDP and 32 in debt per capita, out of the 189 we publish.
