In 2016 Belize public debt was 1,578 million euros 1,746 million dollars, has increased 280306 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 99.23% of Belize GDP, a 16.58 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 82.65% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Belize debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 927 million euros 1,164 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 94.24%.
According to the last data point published, Belize per capita debt in 2016 was 4,300 euros4,759 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 3,612 euros 4,007 dollars, afterwards rising by 688 euros752 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 3,080 euros3,867 dollars .
The position of Belize, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 167 in the list of debt to GDP and 120 in debt per capita, out of the 184 we publish.
