In 2017 Belize public debt was 1,558 million euros 1,760 million dollars, has increased 3675 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 94.43% of Belize GDP, a 1.21 percentage point rise from 2016, when it was 93.22% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Belize debt. It has risen since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 880 million euros 1,206 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 93.4%.
According to the last data point published, Belize per capita debt in 2017 was 4,159 euros4,698 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 4,148 euros 4,592 dollars, afterwards rising by 11 euros106 dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 2,820 euros3,865 dollars .
The position of Belize, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 167 in the list of debt to GDP and 119 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
