In 2013 around 2,633 suicides occurred in Uganda, 112 more than in 2012. In 2013, on average 7 Ugandans committed suicide every day.
Uganda reported 7.86 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 2,633 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 1,820 were men suicides and 814 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.46 per 100,000 men and for women 4.55 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Uganda. However, in Uganda in 2013 there were there were 3,857 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.5 homicides per suicide.
