Suicides increase in Tajikistan

In 2013 occurred 317 suicides in Tajikistan. This year, 9 more people committed suicide than in 2012.

Tajikistan had 3.87 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 317 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 231 were men suicides and 85 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.68 per 100,000 men and for women 2.1 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Tajikistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 126 homicides in Tajikistan, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.5 suicides.
