In 2003 occurred 517 suicides in South Sudan. This year, 36 more people committed suicide than in 2002. In South Sudan, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

South Sudan had 7.39 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 517 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 374 were men suicides and 142 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.98 per 100,000 men and for women 3.97 per 100,000 female.
