There are 24 suicides per day in South Korea

In 2002 occurred 8,665 suicides in South Korea. This year, 1,697 more people committed suicide than in 2001. In 2002, on average 24 South Koreans committed suicide every day.

South Korea had 18.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

South Korea is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 8,665 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 5,974 were men suicides and 2,691 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 24.9 per 100,000 men and for women 11.4 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In South Korea suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 371 homicides in South Korea, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 23.4 suicides.
