Slovenia has a very high suicide rate

In 2003 occurred 562 suicides in Slovenia. This year, 22 more people committed suicide than in 2002. In Slovenia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Slovenia had 28.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.69 suicides per 100,000 people.

Slovenia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 562 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 440 were men suicides and 122 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 45.1 per 100,000 men and for women 12 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Slovenia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 21 homicides in Slovenia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 26.8 suicides.
