Suicides increase in Singapore

In 2014 occurred 645 suicides in Singapore. This year, 10 more people committed suicide than in 2013. In Singapore, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Singapore had 11.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.71 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 645 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 467 were men suicides and 179 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.34 per 100,000 men and for women 6.84 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Singapore suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 14 homicides in Singapore, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 46.1 suicides.
