Singapore - Intentional self-harm

In 2002 occurred 535 suicides in Singapore. This year, 63 more people committed suicide than in 2001. In Singapore, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Singapore had 12.81 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 535 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 339 were men suicides and 196 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.95 per 100,000 men and for women 9.55 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Singapore suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 31 homicides in Singapore, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 17.3 suicides.
