Suicides increase in Saudi Arabia

In 2007 occurred 839 suicides in Saudi Arabia. This year, 82 more people committed suicide than in 2006. On average, there are 2 suicides per day.

Saudi Arabia had 3.36 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Saudi Arabia, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 839 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 644 were men suicides and 195 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.27 per 100,000 men and for women 1.73 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Saudi Arabia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 265 homicides in Saudi Arabia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.2 suicides.
