In Nepal there were 7.31 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.12 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,904 recorded suicide cases in 2006, 1,004 were men suicides and 900 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.63 per 100,000 men and for women 6.74 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Nepal suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 610 homicides in Nepal, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.1 suicides.
