Mexico - Intentional self-harm

In 2015 occurred 6,425 suicides in Mexico. This year, 88 more people committed suicide than in 2014. In 2015, on average 18 Mexicans committed suicide every day.

Mexico had 5.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 6,425 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 5,031 were men suicides and 1,251 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.5 per 100,000 men and for women 2 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 2015 there were there were 20,762 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 3.2 homicides per suicide.
