Mexico - Intentional self-harm

By 2014, suicides in Mexico increased by 428 people to at 6,337 suicides In 2014, on average 17 Mexicans committed suicide every day.

In Mexico there were 5.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 6,337 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 4,984 were men suicides and 1,231 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.5 per 100,000 men and for women 2 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 2014 there were there were 20,010 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 3.2 homicides per suicide.
